Rest is sacred, not selfish.

When was the last time you took a whole day to do absolutely nothing???

In a culture that glorifies hustle and productivity, rest is an act of faith, surrender, and healing. It’s not just a break from doing—it’s a practice of being. Go sit that a** down. Respectfully.

HERE’S THE TEA ON REST👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

1. Rest is God-Designed. Literally.

📖 “On the seventh day God finished His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy.”Genesis 2:2-3

📖 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work.”Exodus 20:8-10

  • Rest isn’t laziness; it’s obedience. God created Sabbath as a rhythm of renewal.

2. Rest Regulates Your Nervous System

  • Chronic stress keeps the body in a fight-or-flight state, leading to burnout.

  • Somatic rest practices—like deep breathing, stretching, and stillness—rewire your nervous system for safety and peace.

  • The body heals in rest.. most of you know this!

3. Rest Supports Physical & Emotional Health

  • Sleep and intentional rest boost immune function, balance hormones, and aid recovery.

  • Unprocessed stress manifests as illness, anxiety, and fatigue—rest allows integration.

  • Rest helps process grief, emotions, and spiritual downloads.

4. Rest Strengthens Your Relationships

  • Exhaustion creates emotional disconnection. You also know ya can’t pour into others from an empty cup!

  • True rest makes you more present, patient, and emotionally available in your relationships.

5. Rest Cultivates Clarity & Creativity

  • Overworking leads to mental fog and decision fatigue.

  • Rest opens space for inspiration, problem-solving, and receiving divine wisdom. Facts backed up by science y’all.

  • Biblical tea: Jesus often retreated to rest before major moments (Luke 5:16).

How to Practice Sacred Rest

Honor the rest – Set aside intentional time for renewal. It can look like 5 mins of silence in your car or an hour of reading under a tree, whatever floats your boat!
Engage in Somatic Stillness – Try slow walks, deep breathing, or body scans to reset your nervous system. Did you know that a 10-20 min walk is enough to alter consciousness?
Create Rest Rituals – Try some or any of the following: Unplug, light a candle, pray, journal, take a nap, create a supportive bedtime routine, allow yourself a 30 minute transition from work to leisure time or errands, you get it —be intentional with your rest!
Say No Without Guilt – Protect your energy as a sacred resource. Boundaries are important, too.
Practice Surrender – Release the pressure to have it all figured out—trust that rest is productive. There’s actually so much science on this.
